FAQ / TECHNICAL CLARITY
FAQ & Technical Clarity
Highline builds mission-critical water, power, and fire-protection infrastructure for complex sites. The questions below address common scope, performance, and delivery considerations.
If your project involves wildfire exposure, remote conditions, or reliability requirements, we recommend starting with a site assessment.
General
What does Highline Infrastructure Group do?
Highline designs and builds mission-critical infrastructure systems across water, power, and fire protection. Our focus is engineered performance and design-build accountability for high-risk and complex sites.
Do you take projects outside Colorado?
Yes. Highline is headquartered in Colorado and supports select projects nationwide where site conditions, risk profile, and scope align with our capabilities. National engagements are evaluated on a project-specific basis.
What types of projects are the best fit?
Highline is best suited for projects requiring engineered infrastructure performance: wildfire defense water supply, complex pumping, standby power integrated with critical loads, and remote sites with real constraints on access, utilities, and climate.
Water Systems
Do you build cistern and pump systems?
Yes. Highline builds water storage, intakes, wet sumps, transfer and booster pumping, pressure stabilization, and engineered interfaces to downstream systems.
How do you determine pump sizing and system performance?
We size systems based on required terminal conditions (flow and pressure) and model static lift, friction losses, elevation gain, suction conditions (NPSH), and equipment curves to ensure performance under real site constraints.
Do you account for freezing and winterization?
Yes. Freeze exposure, below-frost strategies, heat trace requirements, access planning, and seasonal constraints are treated as design drivers and incorporated into system configuration.
Power Systems
Do you provide generators and standby power systems?
Yes. Highline designs and builds standby power systems including generator packages, ATS and distribution integration, fuel systems, and commissioning.
How do you handle motor starting loads for pumps?
We evaluate inrush, sequencing, and control strategy, and size generators accordingly. Where appropriate, we integrate VFDs and control logic to ensure stable starts and predictable operation.
Do you account for high-elevation derating?
Yes. Generator output and cooling performance change with elevation and temperature. We account for derating during sizing and equipment selection to protect real-world performance.
Fire Defense
Do you build full wildfire defense systems?
Highline’s core focus is the infrastructure backbone—water supply, pumping capacity, pressure stability, standby power, and controls integration. Downstream distribution or spray components may be delivered by specialized partners depending on the project.
Do you work with NFPA guidance and local requirements?
Yes. We plan systems with awareness of applicable NFPA guidance and local AHJ requirements. Where needed, we coordinate with licensed engineers for review and documentation.
Scope & Delivery
Do you offer design-build delivery?
Yes. Highline commonly delivers integrated design-build scope, providing performance accountability from early design through commissioning and turnover.
What information is needed to start?
Site location, elevation, water source, performance targets (flow/pressure), electrical conditions, access constraints, and any existing design documents. If you don’t have all details, we can start with what’s available.
Start With a Site Assessment
If your project involves wildfire risk, remote conditions, or critical infrastructure requirements, Highline can review constraints and define the appropriate system approach.
